It’s party season!! Graduation parties that is ;)
On Saturday, I had two grad parties. Both completely different and both beautiful just the same.
The first casual, and a look back on the past four years. High school memories.
The second formal, and a look towards the future. Towards college and tomorrows.
Two grad parties down, a gajillion to go!!!
Hand-prints. Check. Cap and Gown picture. Check. FBLA End-of-year Luau. Check. Academic Achievement Awards. Check.Caps decorated. Semi-complete.
Last night was yet another pit stop on my road to graduation. This time, a celebration of our successes in FBLA both this year, and for the seniors, our successes over the last 4 years.
We ate. We shared stories. We inducted the next officer team. We received scholarships, pins, bars, and cords (for Business Honors Society). And then we got presents.
It was a great evening and I was reminded once again how grateful I am to FBLA and my wonderful advisers. Without them I would definitely not be the person I am today. The opportunities I have been presented with, the uncountable skills I have gained, everything has helped mold me into a young lady with a drive and passion for business I never knew I had.
Every thing is happening so very, very fast! I blink and yet another “event” is over with.
Achievement awards were this morning (outstanding student in such and such, etc.) and in Bio we started decorating our caps. Our yearbooks were delivered today, too…and a few of the other staff members and I stole a glimpse. I get mine Saturday and cannot wait!!!
It’s almost over. It’s happening so fast. Where did the time go?

I finally got a picture of my handprint!!! And some of my friends, too :)
Dear School,
Please be over soon. I’ve finished all my homework. My projects have been turned in and all my tests have been taken. My books are sitting in my car ready to be turned back into you (tomorrow’s the day!). My friends and I are trying our hardest to patiently wait (without killing each other) through class after class of movies and free days. Please, for the sake of this little ole’ senior, please hurry up and close. I’m ready to graduate!
Sincerely,
Hannah
Today marked the beginning of the end.
Today was the day, my classmates and I, lined up in the auditorium, dressed in our red and black gowns and mortarboards. Managing to work the height system, my friends and I snagged a spot together, on the third row, with me in dead center! Can’t wait to see that ;)
It was so very hot, but it was over quickly, and I’m afraid just a mere glimpse of what graduation will be.
After a quick senior meeting, in which the principal went over some important dates (including senior baccalaureate and of course, graduation!) it was time for the traditional senior activities to start unraveling. First up? Hand painting.
Each class since the opening of our school 17 years ago (we are the 18th graduating class!) has had an area of a hallway that has been framed for their handprints, later incased in class. While typically the principal calls students down by last name, in small groups, but due to SOL and expedited testing, kids just showed up whenever, in tiny waves of seniors. But the man who is in charge, has it down to a science after all these years, and every thing turned out pretty well.
I went with my friend Taylor, an hour after hand painting started, and the board was nearly full. It was good we decided to go when we did! I had to keep my fingers together to get my handprint to fit, and it covered a little bit of my name, and my neighbor’s hand. But we got a piece of prime real estate, right at eye level as students walk through the halls! I’m going to try and get a picture next week!
Just the first of many activities to come over the next two weeks!! Here’s to the beginning of the end :)
Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3.
Yeah, so, um, it’s been awhile.
Like almost two weeks. I know, I know.
But I’m a senior, forgive me.
I just finished up my last high school English paper. I have one more assignment to do; it’s due next week.
And I’m home free. As in done with high school. As in, I’m two weeks away from being a college freshman. Um, scary.
But I’ve got many a thing to catch up on including: TV series/season finales, friends, girls’ nights, and more.
So bear with me as I get back into this…I’m getting back into the groove!
(I promise this time!)
My life is crazy. I feel like I’m spinning in a million different directions.
Half of me is stuck in high school, suffering from senioritis as I work my way through the last month of end-of-year projects, tests, and busy work.
And the other half of me is being pulled towards the summer, towards college! To the unknown of the next three months.
This is the first Saturday in many, many months that I have had NOTHING to do. No immediate homework (I should be reading The Politician) or functions to be attending. I could just stay in pajamas, watch the Hallmark channel, and take an afternoon nap. And so I did. And it has been fantastical. A perfect day.
Because I’m spending my days spinning like a top from the gravitational pulls of my life, I am left with very little me time. And so I am left with even less blog time. Read: No blog time.
And that makes me sad. Because this is my outlet. My way to remember what I was doing this fine Saturday. To get all of my feelings out. To share.
But soon—one month to go—I’ll be back to my ole’ blogging self. With plenty of me time, that results in blogging time :)
It’s a four day week, but it’s a busy week.
And add in work every evening and you’ve got one busy girl!
Can’t wait to kick-back and relax my four day weekend (also known as Spring Break, thanks to my snow!) where I will be working and, of course, doing loads of homework. My friends and I have dubbed it “Homework Break!” Can you tell we’re ready to be done??
Hope everyone’s week is going well—it is almost HUMP DAY!!
I’m finally back!!
If you follow my Twitter, then you know that my “vacation” was extended when our plane was downsized Sunday afternoon, so I’ve been struggling to jump back into the scheme of things around here.
This post is as saturated with pictures as the Bio Six and I were during our endless boat rides to snorkeling venues over the weekend!
Enjoy—there will be many more posts to come with pictures/videos of our time in the Keys! (More for me, then for you!)
By the time you read this I’m probably in (or on my way to) Key Largo.
Escaping with A, T, and B, on an AP Biology field trip to snorkel and swim with the sea creatures! We’re joining 20 other kids from local high schools on an expedition to southern Florida.
The sun, sea, and fun with friends—what fun! Oh, and learning, who could forget that?
While I can’t blog(no Internet access!), I will be Twittering.
So, follow me! I’ll try and tweet some pictures, too! Here: http://twitter.com/misshannahdove
(Gram—just add my Twitter site as a bookmark and refresh it every once in a while!)
Check back for some other posts while I’m gone—and be ready for a huge post Monday!!
(Keep submitting questions, we’re bumping the interview back to next Tuesday! There’s just too much going on with me this week—check back Wednesday/Thursday for the details!)
This was written during my last class today—AP US Government. Yes, it’s that exciting!
Just a little thank you to all the kind and courteous people out there!
Thanks for:
Now, five hours later, I can say I was overreacting a (wee) bit. It took a couple deep breaths and a few hugs from my favorite kids, but I’m back to the normal, pre-pet peeve stricken Hannah that graced 8th period Government today. Hoorah!!
What are your pet peeves and how do you manage them??
Mine?? The F- word! Can’t stand it!!!!!!!
Senioritis. That dreadful word.
I didn’t believe in it my freshman year. Oh, silly, naive fifteen year old Hannah.
I am now much older, much wiser (or so I like to think) and I have come to know what it means to be a senior with senioritis.
It first began last year, with mild cases of a similar disease called junioritis mixed with lots of lovely spring weather. I slowly became a procrastinator. I slowly began to be grow into a person who was done with school. Something the silly freshmen and sophomore Hannah would have never, ever said!
Then summer came. I relaxed and came back ready to take on my last year of school. The junioritis was gone!
I did everything on time, much like my freshman self. Never turned an assignment in late. And dutifully attended all my classes.
And then, senioritis hit…though it’s still in it’s more mild stages. I just can’t seem to find that motivation to do the work or concentrate in class. And coupled with this beautiful weather we’re having, I can’t seem to keep my mind on the books. It’s just so hard!
So what’s a senior with senioritis to do?
(I cannot tell you how astonished I was to find that senioritis is defined at Merriam-Webster and that spell-check doesn’t catch it!)
Today, in the midst of an intriguing (read boring, though we were so excited it wasn’t made in the 80’s that we could have jumped for joy) movie about evolution, Darwin, and his brother; T, A, and I decided a dinner date was just what we needed.
When we met at our local Greek and Italian restaurant (with D, too!), we weren’t too surprised to find nearly 30 people waiting. It is everyone’s favorite place, after all. The upside to the wait, however, was being seated in the back. The hostess obviously remembers that we tend to get a bit too loud for the majority of the customers..oops! I always feel so embarrassed sitting up front and worrying about getting too loud—it’s who we are!
As we typically do, we talked and talked and talked. About mothers and fathers and college and boyfriends and teen pregnancy and about making bad choices. We laughed. We sighed.
And we weren’t even loud! I guess we didn’t need to be stuck by the bathroom after all!
For the second time, we even got to be the last table! It’s really such an honor :) You should try it sometime!
Gram: How am I doing with the air of mystery??
