Wordless Wednesday

Colton  Baylee Bek and Colton

(I’m back from my everything break—and that includes blogging! I’ll be back soon with another Great Summer Reads post! I hope that this post finds everyone well—Happy Wednesday!)

(P.S. I like how in my head, the fact that these are in parenthesis and italics makes them semi-invisible so therefore, this is still a true-to-the-word, Wordless Wednesday post.)

A Christmas Catch-Up

The fall semester has ended.

Christmas has passed.

And I’m just now blogging. Thank goodness I’ve picked up journaling or I would have completely missed a huge chunk of my life!

Shall we flip through the pictures (both Droid and camera) so I can remember what’s happened in the past 24 days?

The Semester Ended with a Variety Hour, Secret Santa and Goodbyes

Three Christmases in One Day

It seems it was so hectic that this is the only picture that I have on my computer from the day so far…

It was a great day no matter how crazy it was!

I think that about wraps up the past 24 days.

In one week I jet off for Greece and Italy with my best friend/roommate, my New Testament prof from last semester, and about 20 other BC Eagles for our Interterm class and I am sooooooooooooooooooooo excited. I still don’t think it has fully hit me yet, though! And Mr. Santa Claus even brought me a new zoom Nikon Lens for the occasion!

Now if I could only get my butt in gear to start packing—I loathe packing!

So if you don’t hear from me for another 24 days, you know where I am! :)

I hope that each of you had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Summer Must-Do: Family Reunion

I don’t know about you, but for me there are a few staple things that make my summers, summers; like at least one trip to the beach or lounging by the pool or drinking sweet tea or rocking on the front porch.

For me, one of these annual summer things is our family reunion. And last Sunday, I could officially check the 37th Wilkins Family Reunion off my summer must-do list.

The weather was perfect—once the rain cleared up—not too hot, not too cool. The food was my favorite, country cooking. And the family was, well wonderful. Y’all know I love my family to bits and pieces from the laughs, to the remember-when’s, and the baby (now toddler) cuddling.

Here are just a few of the many pictures that were taken this year…

What about you?? Do you have a family reunion in the summer? What are some of your summer must-do’s?

An Afternoon with Miss B

It’s Fall Break at BC which means a trip home.

And while I’m missing the Quad, there’s no way I would pass up an afternoon with Miss B.

My oh my does she get me smiling! She’s rolling over and cooing like crazy now.

But still as photogenic as ever!

A Celebration

We had quite the celebration Saturday night.

Lots of yummy, good ole’ West Virginia food. Including some awesome chicken.

There was visitin’ and huggin’ and playin’.

The weather was beautiful and cool. The company perfect.

It was quite a celebration.

The Key to . . . Hanging a Screen Door

How many men in camouflage hats does it take to hang up a screen door?

DSC_0195 DSC_0197

On my last count, it was three. (And also a man without a hat before it was over!)

Last Saturday, my mom, dad, Aunt Holly, and her other half, Mike worked on power washing, staining, hanging doors, and other odd tasks at my grandparents’ house.

I…supervised from the comfort of the front porch swing. (But Aunt Holly did teach me how to stain and paint doors!)

Eli Jacob

Over spring break I was lucky enough to spend two days with the newest family member....newest not for long, Lea is due with baby Sophia any day now!

Saturday we hunted for Easter eggs and colored, laying pretty low for that side of the family. We talked about missing Roo. For the first time in my life (or the life I can remember) I heard Shane have something more to say then a grunt--he was actually quite a talker and seemed to have a lot to do. I guess having been a drunken stupor for the last however many years have given him lots of unused words!

Sunday was Easter and we got up for Sunrise service, breakfast, church, and then a quick trip home to change before shuffling back to WV. Spent the early afternoon at Lisa's house. It was the first major holiday since Memaw had died and the absence was definitely noticed. Grandma and her sisters sent some time analyzing the cake that Memaw always made. At first it was sad, but it got pretty ridiculous fast--Memaw would have hated it!

We then headed back to Meme's for Easter egg hunting and more Eli-holding!

Lots of pictures for you...so be patient!!!

Here is the temporarily newest member of the family, Eli Jacob.

eliinthebasket Snoozing in a Longaberger basket…definitely belongs with us! I can’t wait until I have my first baby so that I can have the Newspaper Longaberger basket that held blankets in my own nursery—I can already see Jude/Julian/Cooper/Audrey sleeping in it for photo sessions!
