The Key to . . . Bow-riffic Snow Days!

Everyone knows how much I just love snow. And the good Lord most have known that with the evidence from our late December storm nearly gone, I was ready for some more snow. Because today, we were supposed to get a dusting, and instead got 6 inches!

So snowed in and feeling a little bit better, I went into craft mode. I made some cute as a button, button bobby pins.

And then I made some even cuter big hair bows..my new thing is going to be making bows for my friends when they pick what school they’re going to/get into, in their new school colors. Right now I’ve got to be getting busy on UNH for Liz and VT for Aubrie. I also re-organized my bow collection.

And then I added a bow to my button collection.

All-in-all it was a pretty bow-rrific snow day!

Oh, and I finally got around to framing the little kids’ handprints from my birthday card at work! Every time I look at it, I smile :)

The Key to . . . Surviving RSV and Double Ear Infections

One of the main reasons I’ve been absent these last few weeks (besides my enormous amounts of work) has been my latest illness.

As much as I love my job, there is a downside. An unhealthy downside. Because, you see, there are always at least three little boogers sick all the time. And for some reason, I have to cuddle and play with them. And while I wash and sanitize like crazy, I’ve gotten every thing. The whooping cough. The swine flu. Now RSV and two double ear infections in less then a month.

The latest illness’s symptoms: dizziness (not good when trying to do homework, standing, sitting up, etc.), nauseous, limited appetite, and stuffed up ears. I would describe the stuffed up ears as cotton balls in each ear, muffling sounds to the point where I can’t hear all that well, accompanied by pleasant and sporadic shooting pains.

Today, I visited a ENT PA to diagnose me with fluid in my middle ear (really? I could have told you that!) with mild temporary hearing loss in my left ear. So now I’m left hoping the latest antibiotic and nasal spray will work so that I can skip the whole tube in ears thing (which would ruin my upcoming Florida vacation).

I’ve been researching the Internet for alternatives and we all know how that is…it’s not all that reliable. So far I’ve come up with a healthy does of Vitamin C supplements (which I should probably be taking already) and something called Eyebright Nettle which my mother is currently inquiring about at our local health food store.

But, if anyone else has any tips or tricks in dealing with middle ear fluid I would love to hear them…so I can simply hear them :)

The Pigs on the Farm Go Oink

The pigs on the farm go oink. . .oink. . .oink
Oink. . .oink. . .oink, oink. . .oink. . .oink
The pigs on the farm go oink. . .oink. . .oink
All night long

Pigs on the Farm (We sing this at daycare!)

First it was aches and a sore throat (tested negative for flu and strep)—the doctor said it was a viral infection.

Then it was a horrible cough and congestion—the doctor said it was whooping cough.

And then the fever struck—they say it’s swine flu.

The Calm Before the Storm

Yesterday in the car on the way to church Mom said something to me about how busy I was this week with a laughing response from me. Who was she kidding? My last two months have been busy. This week was going to be a breeze (mind SATs and FBLA Regionals-but I get out of school for that so it doesn't count) or so I thought.

This morning it all hit me. Today was my calmest day this entire week and that's not saying much. Every thing is going on this week. Tomorrow we have teachers' appreciation lunch for FBLA, an FBLA executive board meeting, and I have to baby-sit....and that's just during the day excluding Physics quarterlies, Spanish quizzes, AND four page History papers. Sure it was all coming but it was like wham in my face all at once...and the rest of the week isn't moving annnnnnyyyy slower.

I'm just waiting for one week to go by with nothing to do........but I'm sure that won't happen. I remember when life was so simple last year. hah. I love being busy though, it keeps me from getting bored. If only it didn't creep up on me so freaking much!

Did my Wii Fit! Actually found that it went by a whole lot faster today and I found myself really enjoying it. Now I just have to cut out the snacks!
