The Key to . . . Signature Laughs

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.  -e.e. cummings

Laughs.

They’re like fingerprints. Totally different. Individual. Unique. They’re us in a sound.

They can show someone how happy you are. How totally and completely in the moment you are.

They can be deep or high. They can be long or short. They can show all your teeth or none. They can be cute or border-line annoying.

We all have our signature laughs, but sometimes other sides of our laugh come out and we get new laughs.

There’s the footless and fancy-free with friends laugh. And that was so funny, my side hurt so much from laughing, laugh. The this is awkward so I’m gonna laugh, laugh. The I can’t believe I’m laughing at this, laugh. And even the this isn’t a funny story, but I’m going to laugh to be nice, laugh. And the list goes on.

But everyone has a signature laugh. Their regular, normal, every day laugh. For some reason my laugh typically comes out in three sounds like a huh, huh, huh.

What’s your signature laugh?

(And all you lurkers…yes YOU there with the smile…comment---I’m not scary! And I love to hear from you! No comment is too small. No words to unimportant to hear.)

  1. Well, I have the I'm-barely-able-to-breathe-I'm-laughing-so-hard-laugh. And the really high laugh. And for a while I had a deep laugh (reserved for VERY funny things :]). And I don't know how to describe my normal, every day laugh.

This post was awesome. Great writing.
