The Key to . . . Valentine’s Bows

Earlier I blogged about my guiltiest pleasures! I believe, however, that I left out my guiltiest pleasure of all—making hair bows! Today’s specialty? Valentine’s Day clips!

While stuck inside on the first day of the blizzard, Marko fell victim to my love for bow-making. Today, he’s sporting his new favorite bow-tie! He hasn’t taken it off yet, but he does move it from the front to the back quite frequently!

  1. These are soooo cute! I must be the only woman alive who cannot tie a proper bow... I actually tried to do one on a sash for my sweater yesterday, and it looked like I let my one-year-old do it. How do you make them so nice and neat?

  2. Elizabeth,
Thanks so much! It took a long time to get the hang of bow-making. And even now, I have to do some of them over again to remind myself what I'm doing and get them just right :)

Try this site, http://www.girlythingsbows.com/ for great pictures that will guide you!

Also, I've found that grosgrain ribbon works the best when you're making bows!

  3. Beautiful bows! The first {and only} ones I made I didn't get secure enough and my loops are falling out.

  4. My tip? Wire! I use basic gardening wire, tightly wrapped around the bow before placing the center on with hot glue.
